2 1/2 More Weeks...

...until we find out if Baby OB is a girl or boy. :D I'm still convinced I have a little girl growing in my belly, but we will see. I updated the Baby Pics post as well as the Baby Belly Post, so you guys can see the clothes we have bought so far and the growth of my belly. It still just kind of looks like a beer gut, but it's getting there. I'm starting to really not fit into my jeans/shorts and my shirts are getting tighter. But thanks to a wonderful friend, I have a box of maternity clothes coming my way soon! YAY!

As far as the baby goes, 'she' is growing well. I can tell that she is taking up more space and has moved up inside my belly more and isn't just down in my pelvis anymore. ANNNNNDDDD, I have started feeling movement everyday. I was sitting in my car texting someone when I felt a "bubble" pop inside me. Then later that night, as I was laying on the bed, I felt a "thump". So at 17w4d, I was pretty sure that "pop" was the baby kicking/punching/moving, but the thump made it for sure (7/6/11). Those were the first two instances that I just KNEW it was Baby OB. Back on 6/19/11 (15w1d), I was on the phone and was pushing on my pelvic area when I felt 3 little taps. It was so soft that I thought it was my heartbeat in my fingers, but when I put my hand back again, I didn't feel it. Then on 6/25/11 (16w0d), I could have sworn I felt a "swirl" inside on the right side when I was laying in bed. I've heard that is the baby moving around in there, but that's one of the only times I've felt that kind of movement, so I'm not for sure about that.

Now about the appointments. I have an appointment tomorrow morning, but I won't get any kind of ultrasound done. I am going to get the quad screening blood test done, so they will take the blood for that as well. Then I am also going to go and have the AFP levels checked as part of the screening for neural tube defects (such as Spina Bifida I believe) some day this week. Then our 'BIG' ultrasound is on August 3rd. :) So in just over 2 weeks, we will know for sure if we will have a Samuel Patrick O'Brien or a Camryn/Alexandra/Jennifer/Abigail/Hannah Lee O'Brien. I'm so excited and definitely feel like I just cannot wait that long! :D

Oh, I have created two registries. One at Wal-Mart and one at Target. They aren't completely up to date yet since I don't know the gender. I have tried to only put the main stuff on there. We did already purchase the carseat/stroller system that we decided to go with. And it is looking like the baby shower in Virginia will be more of a cookout type deal with males and females invited. The tentative date for that one is October 22nd and the tentative date for the NC shower is October 1st. More information will come about that later. I believe a lot of the stuff I've put on there so far is online only, I'm not for sure though, so make sure they sell it in the store if you want to go pick it up. The information for the registries is listed below.

Registrant Name: Courtney O'Brien
Co-Registrant Name: Sean O'Brien
Home State: Virginia
Target - Registry ID# 014399701776487
Wal-Mart - Registry ID# 80521851132

It's Been a While ... So This is Long!

've been really lax about updating this, since as a lot of you know, I activated my FB, AGAIN. :) So here is all of the stuff that I haven't posted about or that I haven't put on FB. Oh and before you go any further, I'm convinced this child is a SHE. So from this point on I will be referring to HER as Baby Girl or She or Her, just FYI! ;)

My 1st trimester screening went well. The doctor seemed a little worried about why I was so short and wanted to make sure skeletal birth defects didn't run in my family. Haha! So I had to explain to him that both of my parents are short and I was just doomed to being a few inches taller than a legal "short person". But other than that, everything looked great. Baby Girl was moving around like crazy and it took a while to get the measurements they needed. But once they got the measurements they pricked my finger and told me to wait for the call with the estimate of what the likelihood of the baby having Downs Syndrome was. The measurement for the skin on the back of the neck was a 2.5 and the cut-off for having a higher risk of DS is 3.0. So it was in the back of my head for a couple of days. But they called me back with the blood-test results and said that the chances of the baby having DS were 1/3500(something) and the chances of her having one of the more dangerous Trisomy disorders was 1/7000(something). So knowing that and knowing that it is just a prediction and not a guarantee made me confident that my baby girl will be fine. :)

Now, fast forward a week. I was having some bleeding last weekend (obviously not enough for it to be a big deal, otherwise you would have known already) and then started cramping a day or two later. So when the cramping got a little concerning (aka: worse than the stretching/cramping I was feeling a few weeks ago), I called the doctor and they worked me in that day. So I got another picture and heard the heartbeat again. It was 126-134 with the doppler but with the ultrasound, the doctor picked it up at 154. So still a strong heartbeat and everything looked a-ok. And I rescheduled my anatomy scan for the baby for August 2nd. So we will know by mid-day on the 2nd what this little one is for sure.

And then, here we are today. I am now 14w5d and can definitely tell where I am starting to show. I truly believe that in a few weeks, you'll be able to tell that there is a little human being growing in there. :D It really hit me, last night, that I AM GOING TO BE A MOM. In 5 1/2 months!!!! So I am super excited. And, I even ended up buying some maternity clothes (even though I don't necessarily NEED them right now) because I actually like the way I feel/look in them. So YAY for me! Haha.

Oh, and as for the baby bump. I am not ready to post them on FB at this point, but I will post them on here. I have been taking one a week for the past 4-5 weeks. So I am going to make another post specifically for the baby bump pictures and will update it often (or I'll at least TRY to update it often).

And here is another baby pic for you ...

So Excited!

I hope everyone had a fantastic Memorial Day and nice long weekend! Sean and I went to NC and got to spend time with my family, which was nice. I feel like we've been able to see both sides of the family a lot lately with everyone coming up here and being able to go to NC more lately. I definitely have decided I would love to be back home at some point with our children. I like NC, but I want to be close to our families.

But, as for the baby! :) I have my NT screening (the 1st trimester screening which tests for the likeliness our baby will have Downs Syndrome and some other genetic disorders) next Monday. I'm really excited for that because it's another ultrasound (which means another picture). And on top of that, a lot of people go when they are about 12 weeks and can get a good prediction about the baby's gender, and I will be 13w2d. So since Sean and I have decided to find out with this LO (little one), I am desperately hoping they can tell me what they think it is. If not, mid-July, please hurry!  ;)

I have also still been doing research on baby stuff ... and let me just say ... there are WAYYYYY too many options. Between a gazillion different choices for carseats/strollers and a bagillion choices for nursery furniture, I'm getting overwhelmed with it all. But I do know I want to cloth diaper and one brand I am interested in is called gDiapers. They're so stinking cute and seem like they make cloth diapering relatively fool proof. A girl I know is selling her tiny g's (for newborns) and I'm going to be able to get a good supply for an awesome deal. So I'm really excited about that too.

All this baby stuff is making me super excited for our LO to come and finally be here. Still no morning sickness or anything. I just go back and forth with being exhausted and having energy as if I wasn't pregnant. So I'm knocking on wood and very thankful for this wonderful little blessing!

Thanks for stopping by! I will keep you updated once I go to the NT screening.
